We are Sommer and Casey and we live in Clearwater, Florida. We have been doing serious haunts for 5 years now, starting out in Port Richey at Sommer's mom's house and moving in 2003 to a full walkthrough in Pinellas Park. We now haunt along with Rick and Kacy Brunk, a lovely couple of kids that also happen to be Sommer's Uncle and Aunt. They have been gracious enough to allow us to do a full walk through into the house, and they are helping out on planning and construction which has been an incredible help. New additions in 2004 included my brother Paul, contributing in incredible new ways and helping improve the quality of the haunt. I (Casey) have been doing haunts, parties and collecting props for many years now. The questions I am asked most often are: 1. Where do you get all this stuff? 2. How much did it all cost? 3. Where do you store it all? We get all our props and decorations in various places, in recent years we've relied increasingly on the Internet (check out the links) and building our own props (check out the projects). We also frequent thrift shops and garage sales looking for goodies. As for how much it all costs, I really don't know. The "budget" increases every year and I would guess we've got several thousand invested in all of our stuff. Storing this stuff has always been tricky and we now have to factor part of the budget into renting a storage unit. People often also ask us if we go this crazy for other holidays, and yes, we go pretty crazy for Christmas. We have tons of decorations, ornaments, vintage aluminum trees and lots and lots of lights. Sommer has been a huge help in bringing the haunt to where it is today, as she is very creative and talented. You can see more of her stuff over at her site, Devocate.com. In our free time, we spend an unhealthy amount of time at the Disney parks and Universal Studios, where we are always looking for Halloween ideas. If you'd like to ask either of us anything, ask away.
